HOW TO REACH MERIGAR EAST (23 August village)

ARRIVING BY AIRPLANE TO BUCHAREST:
(International Airport Otopeni or Airport Baneasa)
At the airport you can change money – there are exchange offices and cash machines too. Exchange rate is about 3,7 RON = 1 Euro (May 2008) but at the airport you have usually lower rate, so change only as much money as you need for travel. The rest you can exchange on the spot as there are many banks, cash mashines and exchange offices in touristic places at the coast.

BY TAXI:
Bucharest - 23 August is 270 km. The only possibility to go directly from Bucharest's airports to 23 August is to take a taxi. It takes about 3,5 – 5 hours (depending on traffic) and costs about 140-160 euro (negotiate the price before you take the taxi and take only taxis with company-emblem). Sometimes you can pay with euro but usually taxi drivers take domestic currency.

BY TRAIN:
From Bucharest to 23 August:
From the airport (Otopeni or Baneasa), you should go to Gara de Nord railway station.
The most simply way to go from the airport to Gara de Nord railway station is by taxi. From Otopeni the taxi costs about 60-80 RON (more or less 20 euro). Negotiate the price before you take the taxi and take only taxis with company-emblem. The passage takes about 35-40 minutes. From Baneasa it is cheaper and closer.
From both Otopeni and Baneasa airports you can also take a shuttle bus 783 (every half an hour, by rush hours even often). A double ticket (save it as you can use it when you return) costs 7 RON (less then 2 euro). You can buy it in small offices at almost every bus stop.
At Otopeni airport the bus stop is close to the departures.
At Baneasa you must walk left from the main building, follow the street where taxis are used to park till the big street (there is a traffic circle). Cross the traffic circle as the bus stop is at the oposite side of the road. It takes about 5 minutes walk.
You leave the bus at Piata Victoriei (20-40 min. depending on traffic) and change to metro line M3 (yellow) to Gara de Nord railway station (1 station). Single ticket costs 2,20 RON (about 60 euro cents)
From Gara de Nord rail station, there are trains to 23 August. Direct trains are just in summer time. The train connections for the summer time will be available in May, we will informe you.
